Myrna Blackwood

Ms. Texas Senior America 2013


Myrna was raised in Gospel music as part of the famous “Blackwood Brothers Quartet” family of singers and has been performing on stage since the age of six.


She worked with the Miss Texas/America Pageants for twenty years teaching voice, choreography and motivation.


Myrna has performed for clients such as Rockwell International, IBM, Digital Equipment, Toyota, General Motors and The Texas State Society, where she performed at one of the Inaugural Balls for Former President George Bush, Sr.  She worked closely with Oprah Winfrey for the “Save the Children Foundation,” and performed with celebrities, like, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, The Gatlin Brothers, Leann Rimes, and well loved comedians, Bob Hope and Red Skelton.  Myrna has also performed on Norwegian Cruise Lines.


For the past five years she has been perform at local city functions, as well as, Veterans Events, volunteer organizations, Senior Centers, Independent, Assisted and Memory Care Facilities in the DFW Area.


On August 24, 2013 She won the title of Ms. Texas Senior at the Competition in Dallas, Texas.  In October 2013, she placed 3rd runner up in the Ms America Senior Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.


Myrna lives in Colleyville, Texas with her three Chihuahuas, Emma, Sophie and Bella.  She spends free time caring for her elderly parents.  Myrna also works as a Volunteer for Faith Presbyterian Hospice in the DFW Area.
